LG Optimus G commercial for the first time in Korea
We already know that there’s an LG event happening soon and it seems pretty obvious that the flagship Optimus G will be making its stateside debut. Now we are certain as the quad-core Snapdragon S4-powered handset just made its commercial debut in Korea.
The 4.7 inch handset has now appeared in its own commercial, which will be airing in the manufacturer’s homeland after launch. Go ahead and watch if you want a good look at it.

The very short clip doesn’t shed any new light on the device, but at least we get an extra look at it so we can drool some more. It’s better than nothing right?

Rumor : Apple iPhone 5 Will Not Feature NFC
We have heard a lot of rumors about Apple’s new iPhone 5, although one which has been less prominent than others is NFC, we are not expecting NFC to be a feature that is announced with the launch of the iPhone 5.
Now according to iOS developer @Chronic, there is a good chance that NFC will be included in Apple’s new iPhone, although it isn’t clear whether the technology will be used for payments.
clarification: N42AP had NFC. I am assuming that if that’s CDMA and N41AP is GSM, they both will have it. no reason for just CDMA to.
We will have full details on the iPhone 5 later today, it will be interesting to see if it does feature NFC technology and what Apple intend to use it for.

AT&T : Wi-Fi is Not Enough, Every Computing Devices Should Come With 4G
Glenn Lurie is in the fortunate position of being the executive at AT&T who gets to see all the new consumer devices before they have been released to the public.
For the past seven years he has worked with Apple, and today the list of those who send him products includes many other device manufactures, like Amazon and other consumer electronics-makers that build navigation devices or home security systems.
While not exactly a disinterested party, based on what he sees coming in the pipeline, he tellsAllThingsD that he is making the case to manufacturers that all computing devices in the future should ship with cellular data connectivity — and that it shouldn’t just be an option.
“Wi-Fi only is not enough,” he said. “We try to look for all the opportunities in the world to get the OEMs to understand that they shouldn’t be building two devices. They should be building one device with Wi-Fi and 4G. It’s more efficient for them than having two [product] lines.”
However, he admits there’s still a lot of education that needs to be done to convince customers that always-on connectivity is what they want, especially if it costs a couple hundred more dollars.
Amazon is one of the manufacturers that has not fully embraced that advice, last week rolling out two new Kindle Fire HD devices, one of which is Wi-Fi only and costs $299. The other costs $499 for Wi-Fi plus AT&T’s 4G network. However, the device does have a first-of-its-kind data plan, which is just enough to get customers introduced to having cellular data as an option, but not enough access for heavy data usage.
The new Kindle Fire HD gives users 250 megabytes a month for 12 months with a one-time payment of $50. It includes 20GB of additional Cloud Drive storage for photos and a $10 Amazon Appstore promotional credit.
“We are always looking for ways to be innovative around the rates and get [customers] to use and buy,” Lurie said.
He said this plan was built specifically for Amazon, but definitely goes a long way toward educating customers on the benefits of having access to their data anywhere.
Of course, AT&T is also the carrier behind Amazon’s original 3G Kindle e-reader, which packages together unlimited e-book downloads with the cost of the device. Customers never get a bill. However, that kind of partnership, where connectivity is hidden, will likely never be available for other more multipurpose devices, like tablets, Lurie said.
“You have a whole different ball game of usage,” he said. But with all the people who love that feature, he added, “it kills me when people still sing the praises of Wi-Fi only.”

Windows 8 app store is now open to all devs in 120 markets
The Windows 8 Store has been open for a bit already, but Tuesday, Microsoft opened the store's doors to more than just verified developers.
Now, anyone with an app they wish to submit for approval can sign up to use the development tools, and start the process of getting their app up for sale.
According to Microsoft, this is the "last significant milestone in the rollout of the Windows Store" before the Oct. 26 release of Windows 8.
In addition to allowing any and all developers to submit apps to the Windows 8 Store, Microsoft has increased the amount of markets that can contribute.
Microsoft has added 82 new markets (more than double the original amount) available, bringing the total to a robust 120.
Feels good to be a dev
Anyone who is has an eligible subscription to one of the MSDN services will gain a one-year developer subscription as part of their benefits.
Eligible packages include Visual Studio Professional, Test Professional, Premium, Ultimate, and BizSpark, as well as the student version, DreamSpark.
Speaking to TechCrunch, Microsoft's corporate vice president for Windows Web Services Antoine Leblond said his team has been "focused on making sure the Windows Store is the best and greatest opportunity for developers."
Leblond added he believes Microsoft offers "flexible, clear, and transparent policies for developers," and related how favorable the compensation packages were.
For example, developers will earn 70 percent of all sales up to $25,000, at which point the developer share increases to 80 percent.
With just a little over a month to go until the launch of Windows 8, Microsoft should have no trouble getting the Windows 8 Store up, running, and full of quality apps as soon as it's open to the public.
